Calahonda is an area located in the municipality of Mijas (Málaga) in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Spain; that owes its name to the Playa Calahonda, whose name used the developer, D. Juan de Orbaneja and Desvalls, for naming Sitio de Calahonda to that area and to the part of the urbanization in Marbella, Puerto Cabopino, then known as Calahonda.urbanization began in 1963, being the largest and most populous of the municipality of Mijas.
